Winter Again~ ...

Okay, still not quite. But it has been supposedly getting cooler (finally). Though it's still quite ridiculous. 70-80 degrees in November. Really? Really?

In any case, I love winter. No, not just love. I RABU winter.

(Must spend less time on those kinds of chats...)

Why do I ~~rabu~~ love winter? Well, the main reason is because it's cold. I love the cold because I hate the heat. I hate the heat because the heat hates me. I'm physically weak and have low blood pressure or something, so sun+heat is a deadly combo for me that pretty much brings me down in an instant.

Or maybe some vampire blood got mixed into mine.

The cold is much more relaxing than the heat, anyway. Sweating does not feel good, but I guess shivering does. Plus, huddling together with random people like a bunch of penguins is fun. ~~Just gotta watch out for chikan~~

Second reason why I like winter: winter wear. Boots. Coats. Scarves.
Gyaaah. Winter wear looks simply amazing. Summer garments have nothing on it, and swimsuits don't count (besides, every anime has a beach fanservice scene). Tossing this out randomly too, but also: skirts. Plus zettai ryouiki.

(Must spend less ti-ah, forget it. It's already too late.)

And despite the fact that I don't celebrate Christmas (gasp), the festive air is always nice. Winter foods and sweets are yummy as well as pretty too.

Well, here's to hoping I don't spend Christmas doing college applications.

This is the debut composition of まらしぃ(Marasy), famous Nico Nico piano player who's known for his godly right hand and stuff monkey. He composed the song, but the also famous トゥライ(Tolie)/流星P/minatoP came up with the lyrics. He is the amazing singer and composer who's most famous for creating magnet. So yes, this is quite an epic combination.

First and foremost, the solution to global problems: moe.

As I was taking out my contact lenses this morning, I was greeted with the usual occasional sudden extreme loss of vision. Interestingly enough, I looked a few years younger in the mirror with that loss of vision. The slight blemishes on my skin (okay, this is sounding kind of creepy...) weren't visible without 20/20 vision. I realized that it was a perfect time to turn this into a metaphor for a lovely proverb. One can see others' flaws much more easily than one's own. I also realized that the Autumn Nico Nico Daikaigi started about an hour ago and I was missing it. Quite a bit of sadness there. I hope there will be videos uploaded full of Sekihan goodness.

In other news, the visual novel project is underway. The plot: a high schooler discovers a Sims-like game that portrays the Earth. Through that game, he can control people's actions. In short, he becomes god. But who made this game? Confusion ensues when a team of espers appear to find out. And, of course, what about the other copies of the game...?

There will also be a little sister. There must be a little sister.

Hanbi, I expect some pro-pixiv-level art.

瞬間移動(shunkan idou) - instantaneous movement, ie. teleportation. Very very useful word that you will probably use everyday.

It's 1:54 am. Why are you making an unimportant blog post at almost 2 am, you may ask.
Good question.

Well, apparently I start losing muscle control at around 1:30 am. Involuntary twitches. I suppose people with Tourette's deal with a more major version of this all the time. Ah, and my friend crashed on a tree while twitching on his bike...Perhaps it's good that he isn't permitted to drive.
In any case, my handwriting is a mess (hopefully I can still read my notes later) and I'm twitching as I type this up.

"Why are you typing this up then? Go to sleep, dumbass."

Yeah, yeah. But you know, I feel like writing another paragraph or so. For the sake of ranting.

Lately I've been only posting lyrics or Vocaloid rankings. Obviously, this is because I have degraded into a lazy bum. As one would say in Japanese, 申し訳ありません (moushi wake arimasen), or "I have no excuse." And I really don't. I've been putting quite a few projects on hold recently too. The Skypology series was supposed to go on. I suppose I'll pick that up again whenever I feel like writing. The Durarara!! Abridged Series...well, that never really took off. Voice actors were scouted, but I have no idea what happened after that. Perhaps I got kicked off. And of course, most importantly, I've been neglecting the Young Lions Tournament that was supposed to 2 weeks from now. This wouldn't be a problem if I didn't just learn that the qualifiers never happened. Which means moving everything back. Which means more work.

Which means reducing the size of the tournament to make up for lost time. Maybe.

In a related but unrelated subject, I really hate college applications. Curse the American education system.

Summer!! ...is about to end.

Aah. August. Summer is almost over.
This will be a reminiscent and/or grieving post, so bear with me. What brought this on? Well, I listened to this song...

Tricolor Air Line (Tropical Resort Mix). Upbeat. Summer-like, or 夏っぽい. Happy, right?
About 30 seconds in, I heaved a depressing sigh.

What happened to my summer? 俺の夏がどうしたんだ?
I guess this all started with the papaya song. But this summer did not feel like summer at all, besides the blistering heat, which is not a good thing.

What happened to the beach? Road trip with friends (hah, friends)? Beating ~~heads~~ watermelons with a stick? Eating at a-oh wait, that only happens in anime.

Hold on one sec while I go sigh a bit more.

Right. So, what have I done this summer? Well, I started Skype-ing with ~~strangers~~ long lost brothers and sisters from around the globe. But I regret nothing. I made some good friends, learned more about life than I did the past few years, and met a 4'7" Japanese girl who can fit inside a refrigerator. ~~If that's not moe, I don't know what is.~~
Ahem. Anyway. I also started working out, so I can no longer wear girls clothes...

This is sounding a bit weird, isn't it? Ah, but wait. I am that weird. So no problems.

...in any case. I'd like to say that I've been doing lots and lots of college research, written 20+ essays, applied for a sack full of scholarships and managed to obtain $50,000 in scholarship money, but I can't bring myself to lie, much less lie so blatantly. Well, I did apply for a couple of scholarships (and got rejected). Of course, those essays were lost when my computer got wiped. Stupid My Documents.
I did go to the UT Honors Colloquium though. It was quite nice, but the pillows are rocks. The food wasn't great either. But apart from that, not bad. It brought back a few CYC memories from years ago.
Then last week I went to California. Aah, that was probably the most summer-like part of my summer. Which is ironic, because it was 60 degrees there. In other words, absolute bliss. The fact that we went through the whole trip pretty much speaking only Cantonese was awesome too. The best part about California, besides the weather, would definitely be Kinokuniya.
Japantown. Huge mall. Kinokuniya - huge bookstore. 4 stories. One story filled with manga, anime, and light novels. So amazing. I bought myself my first volume of real manga (!!) which was Yotsuba. I should have bought more, though, since I finished it on the plane... For some reason, I couldn't find HanTsuki, so I opted for volumes 1 and 2 of DRRR!! light novels instead. Also got a Hetalia Italy "passport" which I stupidly gave away without taking pics.

いやぁ・・・本当にオタクになっちゃたかな。orz

This summer was quite an experience for me. I believe I have changed considerably. In a good way? Well, we'll see. Still, I'm quite disappointed in the lack of papayas, iced fruit drinks, and sunglasses. And a beach house. Definitely a beach house.

"What the heck is this?" you may wonder. Well, from what I can gather, the story began with the Yahoo!知恵袋 (chiebukuro), literally "wisdom bag." Basically, it's the Japanese Yahoo answers, or whatever it's called. The original question is here. I'll briefly translate it.

When I get home, my wife is always playing dead.
What is going on?
When I opened the door, my wife was collapsed on the floor.
At first I was shocked, but she started to this everyday, so I just mainly ignored it and told her to wake up.
After I did that, blood started coming from her mouth.
After a week, the white T-shirt was completely stained with blood.

He goes on giving various examples (arrow through head, plastic bag over head, wearing an army uniform and gun and being killed in battle, etc).
The last line is probably the most hilarious though.

Lately she's been making dinner with the arrow or whatever through her head.

The comments to this question...well, you can probably imagine. In any case, ほぼ日P made a Miku song from this, and here we are.

In a small island village, there lived a young priestess named Augmentine. Everyday she was devoted to her worship and her work in the church, but she felt unsatisfied. Each day passed bleakly, and she lived through weeks listlessly, as if she had no reason to live. What is my purpose? she wondered. And so she pondered until one day she met a young traveler.
He called himself Clowd, a man traveling the world for knowledge to sate his curiosity. Always, he was wandering, never staying in one place for a long time. Clowd had discovered this small island and village as he researched various religions, hoping to find a way to escape his ultimate fate. But that is another story.
Naturally, as Clowd was researching religions, he stumbled upon young Augmentine. The priestess gladly shared her knowledge with this traveler, and in short time they had developed a close relationship. Augmentine was curious about the outside world, hoping to find something that would call to her. In exchange for information from the village, Clowd told her about his travels. The priestess was enraptured. In direct contrast to the boring, lifeless village, this traveler was spirited, eager to talk about wonderful topics – topics Augmentine had never heard or thought about before. She quickly fell in love – or perhaps it was just fascination – with the young man. Yet he could not take her with him. His quest was a solo one, and after four short days, he left the island without saying a word.
Augmentine was torn. She had experienced something amazing, something life-changing. Of course, she mourned Clowd’s sudden disappearance, but as the weeks passed, she began to think. She was stuck here, in her tiny village on an island in the middle of the sea. Not a soul living in the village seemed to care about anything beyond its borders, apart from incoming trade. She was frustrated. Angry. There seemed no way out. Her life, her fate looked as if it was already decided.
That night, Augmentine prayed. She sang a song in an old tongue, honoring the most famous and powerful god, Lord Alexander, god of sound. As she prayed, she slowly drifted to sleep.
Within her dreams, the figure of Alexander appeared. His majestic figure glowed, a soft, magnificent white robe clothed his toned body. His face was partly obscured by a pair of jet black lenses, yet even the Aviator sunglasses could not mask the light. The god wore a pair of golden sandals upon his feet, only just able to be seen behind his large stringed instrument, which he carried in front of him.
“You have asked for me,” Lord Alexander’s melodious voice sounded, “what is it you seek?” His voice was a rich tenor, somehow both melody and harmony at the same time. Augmentine kneeled before this awe-inspiring figure, lost for words. After a short moment, she recovered and managed to stammer out a few words.
“L-l-lord Alexander,” she began halteringly, “I wish-“ Her thoughts then turned to Clowd, the traveler she had adored so much. Would it not be nice if every person on this earth were like that? Would it not be nice if every person on this earth were better, no, PERFECT? she thought. In that case, the parents would need to be perfect to produce perfect offspring. Without thinking, she suddenly blurted out—
“I would like your seed.”
A pause. Lord Alexander tilted his head, looking confused.
“I would like…to bear your children,” Augmentine plowed on shamelessly. She couldn’t stop herself. Somehow, her impulse overrode any tact and caution.
Alexander was shocked. Never before had he such a bold request before him. He vanished from the dream immediately and sought counsel with his good friend Pato, god of knowledge and trolling.
“What…is…this?” Alexander managed to get out after his explanation, as Pato tried to keep his face straight. A giggle leaked out. Quickly composing himself, Pato turned to his friend.
“Well, you could just ignore it. These things pass, you know?” he managed to get out before he erupted into violent fit of giggling. Alexander, trusting Pato’s advice, turned from this matter.
Back in the mortal realm, Augmentine lay there dismayed. She had been rejected twice, this time from a god—but of course! How could a god have agreed to a proposal like that? It wasn’t even a proposal, more like a demand! She felt wretched. There would be consequences, she felt. She wandered the village aimlessly, but fatigue overtook her and she soon fell asleep once more.
The next day, she was violently woken up as a hard object fell on her head.
“Oops! Sorry, missy! Are you hurt?” a vendor asked hastily. His fruit stand had slipped, and an assortment of fruits had fallen off. A particularly big watermelon had landed neatly on Augmentine’s head with a ringing thump and split. The young priestess had quite a hard head.
“Ow…of course it hurts…” she mumbled, dazed. Suddenly, she sat up straight. The resounding ring sounded familiar…yes, it was exactly like Lord Alexander’s voice. Indeed, this was because Alexander and Yotsuba, god of fruits (though usually associated with the papaya) had created the watermelon together. Yotsuba had, of course, created the melon itself, and Alexander had given the watermelon its tone when tapped, the sign of its ripeness.
Augmentine stared at the broken watermelon before her. It was quite small, and its flesh was white—white as Lord Alexander’s robe. The black seeds glistened in the morning sunlight, beckoning to her. Unaware of her surroundings or even her actions, Augmentine picked up a piece of melon and ate it, seeds and all.
She cried out in agony. Her body writhed upon the ground. The seeds, of course, were imbued with power (as almost all fruit seeds are; it is this power that allows their planting). This power was never supposed to be consumed by mortals. The divine force in the seeds quickly drove through Augmentine’s body, destroying flesh and mind.
As her soul finally passed, Lord Alexander realized what had happened. Overcome with guilt, he decided to grant the priestess an immortal’s body. He had made her into one of the gods. Yet although her body returned, her mind could not be fully repaired. The seeds had driven her insane, her mind broken. Occasionally, she had a grasp upon herself and returned to her past priestess self, but most of the time she remained in that broken state, a chaotic state. Thus, the goddess of chaos Augmentine was born.

And this is why, boys and girls, you shouldn’t eat watermelon seeds.

Anyway, nice to see the old gatekeepers back. Black Rock Shooter is back. Whoo! Looking forward to the OVA.
